I provide individual therapy to individuals 18 years and older. I offer both in person therapy and telehealth "virtual" therapy, via a HIPAA compliant platform, to those residing in the state of Virginia.
Education:
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Services Counseling and Psychology. Furthermore, I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling from Regent University.
I am a psychotherapist, otherwise known as therapist, or in the state of Virginia: a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I am also a Virginia Board Certified Clinical Supervisor in the state of Virginia (LPC-S). I'm an educator and mentor who enjoys providing clinical supervision to post-graduate counseling residents.
Career Background:
I've worked in a variety of settings in my career to include: The Dwelling Place Homeless Shelter (non-profit) working with at-risk children and families. I've worked at Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center working with children and teens. I also worked as an Intensive In-Home Counselor providing individual and family therapy to at risk youth and their families in their home. I've worked at the Virginia Beach Community Services Board, Child and Youth Department, providing individual and group with adolescents and their families specializing in foster care, adoption, and reactive attachment. Furthermore, I developed and taught parenting educational classes partnering with the City of Norfolk and City of Virginia Beach. Lastly, I've also worked in the private practice and corporate mental health settings.
Currently:
Since forming my own business in 2017, I discovered my passion as an entrepreneurial therapist and love for learning, creating, and connecting with others.. I not only spend my day-to-day meeting with clients and providing therapy, but have begun exploring new partnerships with brands that promote and elevate mental health and lifestyle, exploring writing and speaking engagements to promote awareness and make a positive impact within the community.. I also currently enjoy creating social media content on mental health as a creative outlet.
I also enjoy providing clinical supervision, teaching, and coaching to therapists completing their post graduate clinical residency, and offering mentoring/business consulting with other private practice therapists.
I continue to pursue my passion in helping others through empowerment and education with a compassionate approach that is relational focused. I don't subscribe to the antiquated belief system that people are "broken", or need to be "fixed." It is my belief that we have the capability to heal ourselves from the neglect, trauma, abuse, and/or childhood environment we experienced.
Trauma can manifest in various forms, including:
Certifications:
I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), Certified Anxiety Treatment Provider (CATP) and Certified Grief Counseling Specialist (CGCS). I am a Life Coach. I am also currently completing my certification to become a Certified Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician Training by the world renowned clinical psychologist and best selling author, Dr. Ramani Durvasula.
Therapeutic Approach:
My therapeutic approach is compassionate and collaborative. We will discuss what brought you to therapy and help you determine what it is you would like to achieve from it. I believe therapy should be one with no judgment, shame, or criticism and a person should feel emotionally safe, seen, heard, believed, supported and encouraged. Throughout therapy, you will learn more about who you are and explore the questions you have about yourself.
